Maths Blast and Spell Blast
Once your child has logged into HWB, they can access a great app to help them with their spellings and times tables called J2Blast. J2Blast can be found by clicking on the Just2easy button once your child has logged into Hwb and then clicking on the J2Blast tile.
Within the app, children are able to click and drag the slider to choose different levels of difficulty with their spelling and times tables, or they can go online and play against their friends and children from all over the world.
Teach your Monster to Read
Teach your Monster to Read is a great app that can be used on both Android and Apple iOS devices. This app will help your child develop their phonic skills and word building skills which will enable them to develop their reading further, in a fun and engaging way.
The great news is that the company behind this app has now made this app FREE to everyone during this difficult time, which is absolutely great news.

Ten Minutes a Day Times Tables
DK’s Ten Minutes a Day Times Tables app is a great free app on Apple iOS that will really help your child with their times tables. They can practice any times table and move on to challenging races which include mixed levels.

Due to the current circumstances they have opened up to allow all parents access to their resources for home learning. It is usually a paid for subscription to be able to access most of the resources on the website, however they have given all parents a month free.

With Duolingo's free mobile app or web, a few minutes a day, everyone can learn a new language. Learn 30+ languages online with bite-size lessons. We've added it on to our list as it's a great way to learn Welsh for both children and adults!

This website has many useful resources for both literacy and numeracy. There are games and activities as well as e-books. The e-books are linked to the Oxford Reading Tree which is the same programme that we use in school. Please select your child’s reading level to access a range of suitable books. Please also remember to question your children whilst reading to reinforce their understanding of what is being read. Your child should aim to read a new book each week.

Active Learn Primary
Abacus Active Learn is a fun and interactive way for your child to develop the skills learnt in school at home. Your child's teacher adds interactive games to your child's account which reinforces what they have learnt in that term. Your child has their own personalised login so that they can access the programme at home. The great thing about their Active Learn accounts is that it can be used on any tablet or laptop.

PE lessons with Joe Wicks
We are huge fans of the lovely Joe Wicks here at Afon y Felin Primary. Many of our staff have his cook books and Mrs Jones uses his HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) exercises with her class: we also loved joining in with his training during Children in Need. We find it very important for everyone to be as healthy and as fit as can be during this challenging time, and we can't think of anyone better to help us than good ol' Joe!
The great news is that starting from Monday, 23rd of March, he will holding live PE classes every morning at 9:00am to keep your children in peak fitness.

Khan Academy is a website that supports students in their learning up to the age of 18, however, they now have a dedicated app for young children. Khan Academy Kids is a free, fun, educational program designed to inspire young children to become learners for life. The robust Khan Academy Kids curriculum and original content make learning engaging and fun for children ages two to seven.
